Forum postponed until Fall 2012

Below is a message from the Executive Director of the Forum for Young Albertans about postponing the 2012 program:

April 20, 2012

Dear students,

As the May program date approached, and the outcome of the election became uncertain, we began to encounter several obstacles which would have made it very challenging to offer the same successful program we have delivered in the past.  Regardless of the outcome of the election, we would have less than two weeks to organize the majority of the Forum.

The primary goal of the Forum for Young Albertans has always been to educate students on the workings of the provincial government.  Never in the 33 year history of the Forum has a provincial election, which has been so closely contested, fallen so closely to the program dates.  As a result, several of our program sessions which deal with elected officials would have been difficult or impossible to organize.  The Board of Trustees for the Forum for Young Albertans has decided that it is in the best interest of the program to post-pone the Forum until the fall of 2012.

We are anticipating an early November date, however, these dates are set in conjunction with the several offices at the Legislature, so we do not have a confirmed date at this time.

Thank you for your understanding and I look forward to seeing you in the fall.

Yours sincerely,
Jason Stolz
Executive Director
